About the event
From the beginning of his teaching career, sociologist & wildlife photographer Gary Payne merged his academic interest in culture and his skills in photography to document history & wildlife in over 30 nations.
His presentations became classroom material while teaching at Bemidji State University, at South Dakota State University, and at CLC. His environmental advocacy was recognized by the Sierra Club as early as 1989 when he was named Minnesota Environmentalist of the Year. He has written for dozens of magazines and newspapers and created a 55-minute documentary on forestry issues for Sierra Club that aired over PBS stations.
Payne and his wife Mary Rosenberg returned in January from a 40-day trip to Chile in South America where they captured spectacular cultural and wildlife images while traveling across 4000 kilometers of Chile's magnificent (yet endangered) landscapes. Payne will display these colorful images using his own state-of-the-art 4K laser projector on the large screen in the lower level.
