Volunteer at the Arb
Volunteers play a vital role in Northland Arboretum's success, contributing their time, skills, and energy. Opportunities to work with plants and people abound—working in a variety of different gardens or helping with special events. Join in, meet new people, learn new things, enjoy nature while helping the Arboretum grow.
Our volunteers are truly the heart and soul of Northland Arboretum. Without them, we could not provide quality programs and services, exceptional special events, or beautifully-maintained gardens. There are many ways to get involved, and a wide variety of volunteer roles to fit your interests and skills.
How to Volunteer:
To get started, we ask that you complete a volunteer application. Download, print and fill it out then mail it to Northland Arboretum, PO Box 375, Brainerd, MN 56401. Once it is received and reviewed, Northland Arboretum will contact you to set up a meeting to discuss your interests and how they match with the Arboretum’s needs. At that time you will receive a copy of the Volunteer Handbook to review. (Application SEE BELOW),
The Arboretum will work with you to determine where you will be volunteering, set up a work schedule for you and answer any questions you may have.
Group Volunteer Opportunities:
The Arboretum is open to working with your group: young or old, corporate, school or church organization. Together, we will work on creating a project that benefits both you and the Arboretum. Projects will vary depending on the season, but extra hands are always welcomed! Please contact the Arboretum Volunteer Coordinator to review your request.
Northland Arboretum staff members greatly appreciate the work of our volunteers and make them an integral part of operations. Like new employees, volunteers are expected to fulfill the commitments specific to their assignments in a manner that is consistent with Northland Arboretum’s mission to preserve, promote and celebrate our natural environment.
Volunteers with suggestions, comments, or concerns are encouraged to communicate these to the Volunteer Coordinator of Northland Arboretum at 218-829-8770 or email us by clicking here
